NTFS drive reader for Android
Open NTFS, exFAT and ext4 drives in the Files app
Plug a drive from Windows, a camera or Linux into your phone and open it in the Files app
you already use. NtfsForge adds the drive to Android's file picker, so any app that can open a file can
open one from the drive. No root, no ads, no account.

Reads
Your drive, right in the Files app
USB flash drives, external SSDs and hard drives, and SD cards in a USB card reader, with or
without a partition table.
What it does
Free to read. Pro is one purchase.
Most phones can't write to NTFS drives. Pro can, with no subscription, on every drive you connect.
Free Everyone
- Browse and search the drive in the Files app
- Open photos, videos, music and documents straight from the drive, in any app that uses Android's file picker
- Copy files and folders to your phone
- Add, change, rename, move and delete files on exFAT and FAT drives, from the Files app
- Reformat a drive as exFAT, which most phones, Windows and Mac read and write with no extra app
- Eject the drive before you unplug it
Pro One purchase
- Add, change, rename, move and delete files and folders on NTFS drives, from the Files app
- Format a drive as NTFS
Careful by design
Read-only until you turn writing on
- A drive stays read-only until you turn writing on for it and accept the terms
- Writing stays off on write-protected drives, and on drives that weren't closed properly until Windows has checked them
- Linux drives are never written to
- Files Windows compressed can be opened and copied but not changed; files Windows encrypted can't be opened
- Reformatting shows the drive's name and size, says plainly that everything on it will be erased, and waits for you to confirm. Real progress, never a fake bar, and the result is checked
- Back up anything you can't lose before you write to a drive
Private
Your files never leave your phone
NtfsForge opens no network connection of its own: no analytics, no tracking, nothing uploaded. The
internet permission is only for Google Play's purchase. Android asks you to allow USB access for each
drive.
The details are in the privacy policy.
What you need
Before you start
- A phone that supports USB OTG (most do), and an adapter or cable if the drive's plug doesn't fit
- Android 10 or newer
- The phone's own microSD slot isn't reached; put the card in a USB reader
